Daejeon: South Korea’s postal operator announced the partial restoration of its mailing services, which had been suspended due to last week’s fire at a major government data center. Korea Post confirmed that mail and package shipping, both domestic and international, along with tracking services, would be available from 9:00 a.m. to reduce public inconvenience ahead of the extended Chuseok holiday starting Friday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, several services such as the shipment of fresh goods and non-document express mail to the United States will remain suspended. The fire occurred at the National Information Resources Service in Daejeon when a lithium-ion battery exploded in a computer room, affecting major government services over the weekend.
Korea Post stated its commitment to returning mailing services to normal as soon as possible, ensuring that all deliveries, including packages, can proceed smoothly before the Chuseok holiday. Financial services, including debit card transactions, online banking, and ATM services, were resumed by Korea Post on Sunday.
