Korean Cuisine Captivates APEC Attendees in Gyeongju

Gyeongju: A variety of popular Korean cuisine has captivated the taste buds of participants at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) gathering in the southeastern city of Gyeongju, where food trucks and promotional booths offered an exciting K-food experience.

According to Yonhap News Agency, on Thursday afternoon, well after the usual lunch rush, around 10 food trucks set up at the Bomun Tourist Complex were still bustling with foreigners and APEC participants eager to get a taste of Korean cuisine, including pork soup, or "gomtang," and instant rice noodles.

On one side, CJ Cheiljedang, a major South Korean food maker, offered various products under its signature brand, Bibigo, including instant rice cups, dried seaweed snacks, and "tteokbokki," a spicy Korean street food made with rice cakes.

Participants were also delighted to try the limited-edition "KPop Demon Hunters" Shin Ramyun instant noodles at a food truck run by Nongshim. Others were seen waiting in long lines to try fried chicken, walnut cookies, and Korean traditional snacks, while one foreign correspondent who tried a sample of a fish cake from Samjin Eomuk said in broken Korean, "Fantastic!"

Visitors also showed interest in halal-certified instant noodles, tteokbokki, and soy milk produced by Korean companies. The food trucks will run from Oct. 27 to Nov. 1.
