Atlanta: Hundreds of South Korean workers detained in a recent U.S. immigration crackdown in Georgia are set to depart the U.S. Wednesday afternoon to return home, diplomatic sources confirmed.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the workers were detained at Immigration and Customs Enforcement facilities in Folkston, Georgia. They will travel by car to Atlanta International Airport to board a chartered flight home around 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 10.
The detentions occurred following a raid at an electric vehicle battery plant construction site run by a joint venture of Hyundai Motor Group and LG Energy Solution in Bryan County. Since the raid, both Seoul and Washington have been negotiating their release.
