Seoul: The KOSPI 200 index witnessed a notable upward trend, with a majority of companies recording gains in their closing prices. LS Electric and Doosan emerged as the top performers, contributing significantly to the positive market sentiment.
According to Yonhap News Agency, LS Electric experienced a remarkable increase, closing at 311,000, up by 42,000. Doosan also saw a substantial rise, finishing at 670,000, an increase of 46,000. These gains underscore a strong performance in the industrial and electrical sectors.
Other significant contributors to the market's positive movement included POSCO Holdings, which rose by 9,500 to close at 263,000, and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, which increased by 30,000 to close at 463,500. Among technology stocks, Samsung Electronics advanced by 2,500, ending the day at 60,500.
In the consumer goods sector, Nongshim and Shinsegae displayed contrasting results. Nongshim's stock climbed by 2,000 to close at 399,000, while Shinsegae saw a decline, dropping by 100 to close at 185,000. Meanwhile, Dongwon Industries faced a downturn, falling by 950 to close at 47,050.
Overall, the market exhibited strength across various sectors, with significant contributions from both established enterprises and emerging players, highlighting a day of robust trading activity in the South Korean market.
