KOSPI 200 Sees Decline with Significant Losses in Tech Sector

Seoul: The KOSPI 200 index witnessed a downward trend, marked by considerable losses in the technology sector, impacting the overall market sentiment. Key players in the technology space, such as Samsung SDI Co., Ltd. and LG Innotek, experienced significant declines in their stock prices.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Samsung SDI Co., Ltd. saw a substantial drop of 4,900, closing at 169,700. LG Innotek also faced a decline, with its stock price falling 4,200 to close at 147,800. The losses in these major technology firms contributed to the broader negative performance of the index. Other companies in the sector, including Mobis and Samsung Electronics Mechanical, also reported decreases of 5,000 and 3,400, respectively.

In contrast, Hanwha Aerospace and Youngone Holdings reported gains, with Hanwha Aerospace seeing an increase of 12,000 to reach 890,000, while Youngone Holdings rose by 3,900, closing at 134,800. These gains, however, were not enough to offset the overall downward pressure on the index.

The industrial sector was not spared, with significant declines observed in companies such as Hyundai Heavy Industries, which fell by 1,500 to 42,200, and Hanssem, down 1,950 to 44,950. The chemical sector also saw declines, with Kumho Petrochem and Lotte Chemical Corp dropping 1,100 and 4,000, respectively.

Stocks such as LS Electric and Hanwha Solutions managed to post gains, with LS Electric increasing by 1,000 to 285,000 and Hanwha Solutions climbing by 650 to 32,950. Despite these positive performances, they were overshadowed by the broader market declines.
