Seoul: The KOSPI 200 index experienced varied movements as individual stocks closed with both gains and losses. Among the notable performers, Samsung Electronics emerged prominently with a significant price increase, closing at 70,400, up by 4,500.
According to Yonhap News Agency, several companies in the index recorded declines. Noteworthy decreases were seen in the shares of POSCO Holdings, which fell by 9,500 to close at 323,000. DB Insurance also saw a decline, dropping by 5,900 to a closing price of 128,300. Additionally, the stocks of Nongshim and Shinsegae decreased by 5,500 and 5,100, settling at 382,500 and 171,300, respectively.
Amidst this, some companies did see upticks. Hyundai Motor's stocks went up by 2,000, closing at 218,500. Samsung SDI Co., Ltd. also recorded an increase, ending the session at 194,500 with a gain of 4,700. Meanwhile, Hanwha Vision and Samsung Electro-Mechanics also reported gains, closing at 60,800 and 138,500, with increases of 1,000 and 3,600, respectively.
The session reflected a mix of upward and downward trends, with significant declines observed in Taekwang Industrial, which fell by 27,000, closing at 1,016,000. SeAH Steel Holdings and GC Corp saw declines of 5,000 and 7,200, closing at 216,500 and 145,500, respectively.
Overall, the KOSPI 200's performance illustrated the varying market sentiments impacting different sectors and companies, with some managing to achieve notable gains amidst broader declines.
