KOSPI 200 Sees Mixed Trading with Significant Gains in Retail and Energy Sectors

Seoul: The KOSPI 200 index closed with a mix of gains and losses, reflecting varied performances across different sectors. Notably, companies in the retail and energy sectors recorded significant upticks, contributing to a positive close for many.

According to Yonhap News Agency, BGF Retail led the gains with an increase of 3,300, closing at 121,000. The energy sector also saw a surge, with HD Hyundai Electric rising by 3,000 to end at 507,000, while HD Hyundai Heavy Industries climbed 2,500, reaching 466,500. In the financial sector, Meritz Financial and BNK Financial Group saw increases of 1,100 and 110, closing at 114,600 and 14,520, respectively.

The technology and pharmaceutical sectors experienced declines, with Samsung Biologics dropping 20,000 to close at 1,031,000 and Hanwha Systems falling by 1,200 to 56,800. HYBE also saw a decrease, dropping 3,000 to finish at 259,000.

Retail giant emart recorded a gain of 400, closing at 89,100. Youngone Corp and CSWIND also experienced increases, closing at 59,300 and 47,200, reflecting gains of 1,400 and 900, respectively.

The mixed trading session was marked by significant movements in both directions, showcasing the dynamic nature of the market as investors responded to various sectoral performances.
