Aichi: The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) announced it hosted a cooperative event aimed at fostering collaboration between South Korean and Japanese battery manufacturers in Aichi prefecture, central Japan. The event, titled the 2025 Korea-Japan Next-Generation Battery Plaza, attracted approximately 150 officials from secondary battery companies and research institutes from both nations to discuss strategies for enhancing cooperation in the battery sector.
According to Yonhap News Agency, ten South Korean companies sought collaboration opportunities with Japanese counterparts in areas such as trade, joint development, and equity investment during the event. SK On Co., a prominent Korean battery manufacturer, presented proposals to strengthen industrial and technological cooperation between Seoul and Tokyo.
KOTRA highlighted that Korea’s secondary battery exports to Japan first surpassed US$200 million in 2012 and have consistently exceeded the $400 million mark over the past three years, underscoring the growing economic ties between the two countries in the battery industry.
