Seoul: Krafton Inc., a South Korean gamemaker known for its successful title PUBG: Battlegrounds, announced on Tuesday that its first-quarter net income increased by 6.6 percent to 371.5 billion won (US$258.4 million) compared to the same period last year.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Krafton also reported an operating profit for the January-March period of 457.3 billion won, marking a 47.3 percent increase from the previous year. The company’s revenue for the quarter rose by 31.3 percent, reaching 874.2 billion won.

The reported earnings surpassed market expectations, with the average estimate of net profit by analysts being 329.1 billion won. This estimate was based on a survey conducted by Yonhap Infomax, the financial data firm of Yonhap News Agency.
