Bangkok: KT Corp., South Korea's major telecommunications company, announced the successful completion of a joint project to develop a large language model (LLM) for the Thai language.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the project was undertaken in collaboration with Jasmine Technology Solutions (JTS), the IT arm of Thailand's tech giant Jasmine Group. The partnership, which began in March last year, aimed to create an LLM capable of supporting Thai, English, and Korean languages. In addition to the LLM, KT developed an operational management system known as LLM Ops and an AI infrastructure called GPU Farm.
South Korea's AI startup Upstage also contributed to the development project. The newly developed LLM is equipped to answer questions related to Thai politics, history, and culture. KT has expressed its intentions to continue collaborating with its Thai partner to further enhance the AI platform, expand the GPU infrastructure, and develop additional AI services.
KT Corp. anticipates that the success of the Thai project will act as a catalyst for expanding its AI business into other global markets.
