KUSKOP TO HOLD THREE-DAY SOCIAL ENTERPRISE DAY PROGRAMME FROM TOMORROW

KUALA LUMPUR, The three-day Social Enterprise Day 2024, which begins tomorrow (Thursday), will give awareness to the public as well as business and corporate communities about social enterprises in Malaysia.

Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Ministry (KUSKOP) policy and international relations division secretary Mohamad Mahil Ahmad said the programme is being held to attract the public’s interest on the impact contributed by social enterprises in achieving their mission.

‘The 2024 Social Enterprise Day will also introduce and assist social enterprises to market their products and services apart from increasing the number of social enterprises that apply for ratings with KUSKOP,” he said when he was a guest on Bernama TV’s Apa Khabar Malaysia show today.

The programme is organised by KUSKOP together with Chamber of Social Entrepreneur Development (CSED), and agencies under KUSKOP such as SME Bank, the Malaysian Cooperative Commission (SKM), Cooperative Institute of Malaysia (IKMa), National Institu
te of Entrepreneurship (INSKEN), SME Corporation Malaysia and National Entrepreneurial Group Economic Fund (TEKUN Nasional).

KUSKOP is organising this event in conjunction with the SEMAI Summit at The Asia School of Business (ASB) 11 here, and is expected to be officiated by Entrepreneurship and Cooperatives Development Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick tomorrow.

Mohamad Mahil said visitors to the event will also have the opportunity to obtain further information on social enterprises more closely and accurately by attending the Entrepreneurship and Social Forum involving panelists from the government and private sectors as well as from social enterprises.

There will also be a presentation session by KUSKOP on the ‘Social Enterprise Landscape in Malaysia’.

Meanwhile, SME Bank will also present the ‘Role of SME Bank in developing Social Enterprises’ and will share success stories by social enterprises.

‘There will be other activities such as the SE Rating Clinic for Cooperatives, Companies and Social Innovator
s; a Basic Social Entrepreneurship course; KUSKOP and agencies’ exhibition; as well as the ‘Buy Social’ exhibition and sale involving 50 social enterprises,” he also said.

He added that KUSKOP hopes that the programme can boost the activities of social enterprises in the country to jointly protect the environment or develop the socioeconomics of the people.
