Lee and Xi Hold First Official Phone Conversation to Enhance Strategic Cooperation

Seoul: President Lee Jae-myung on Tuesday engaged in his first official telephone conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping, as reported by China's state-run Xinhua news agency. This marks Lee's inaugural dialogue with Xi and his third discussion with a foreign leader, following previous conversations with U.S. President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba.

According to Yonhap News Agency, during the call, President Xi emphasized the importance of elevating the strategic cooperation partnership between China and South Korea. He proposed that the two nations work together to uphold multilateralism and promote free trade. Additionally, Xi highlighted the necessity of ensuring stable and efficient global and regional industrial supply chains, underscoring the significance of collaboration between Seoul and Beijing in these areas.
