Lee Emphasizes Need to Revitalize Stock Market

Seoul: President Lee Jae Myung held a meeting with executives of brokerage firms on Thursday, during which he emphasized the need to revitalize the stock market. Lee told the executives that the government will seek to root out unfair stock transactions, opaque management, and unreasonable decision-making procedures to create a predictable and fair market environment.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Lee stated that stock manipulation or unfair disclosures should be eliminated and noted some progress in these areas. He also vowed to ease military tensions with North Korea and stabilize the security situation on the Korean Peninsula as part of efforts to reassure investors.

In addition, Lee highlighted the need to channel financial resources into productive industries rather than concentrating them in the real estate market under the concept of “productive financing.” He expressed the importance of vitalizing the stock market to provide viable alternative investment options to people and mentioned feeling fortunate to see some progress in the field.
