Lee Jae Myung Names Koo Yun-cheol as Finance Minister Amid Cabinet Reshuffle

Seoul: President Lee Jae Myung on Sunday named veteran bureaucrat Koo Yun-cheol as his pick for finance minister, the presidential office announced. This appointment is part of a broader cabinet reshuffle that includes several other significant positions.

According to Yonhap News Agency, alongside Koo Yun-cheol's nomination, President Lee appointed five-term lawmaker Rep. Jeong Seong-ho as justice minister. Veteran lawmaker Rep. Yun Ho-jung was named interior minister, and Lee Jin-sook, the former president of Chungnam National University, was selected as education minister. Additionally, Doosan Enerbility President Kim Jung-kwan has been appointed as industry minister, and former Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency Commissioner Jeong Eun-kyeong has been named as health minister.

Furthermore, the announcement included the appointment of former prosecutor Bong Wook as the senior presidential secretary for civil affairs, rounding out the significant changes in the presidential team.
