Seoul: President Lee Jae-myung on Wednesday paid a visit to the Korea Exchange, the nation's bourse operator, and discussed measures with traders to curb unfair stock transactions, Lee's office said. The visit by Lee, who took office just a week ago, to the bourse operator is also aimed at discussing measures to revitalize the stock market, according to the presidential office.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Lee has put his top priority on economic growth and pledged to help raise the benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) to 5,000 points. To that end, Lee has vowed to sternly deal with stock price manipulation and other unfair practices to regain investors' trust. Earlier in the day, the KOSPI surpassed 2,900 points for the first time in three years and five months.
