Seoul: President Lee Jae-myung and first lady Kim Hye-kyung paid their visit to a traditional market in Seoul on Friday, shortly after attending the 70th Memorial Day ceremony. Lee and Kim greeted small merchants at the market in Dongjak Ward, where the Memorial Day ceremony was held at Seoul National Cemetery, marking the president's first public outreach since taking office earlier this week.
According to Yonhap News Agency, during the 40-minute visit, Lee and Kim shook hands with shoppers and went grocery shopping. Presidential spokesperson Kang Yu-jung told reporters that the visit was aimed at getting a firsthand look at people's livelihoods and the current economic situation. Lee had said revitalizing the nation's sluggish economy and improving people's livelihoods would be his top priority if elected.
