Tokyo: President Lee Jae Myung will visit Japan from August 23-24 for summit talks with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba to discuss ways to advance bilateral relations and trilateral partnership with the United States, the presidential office announced Wednesday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Lee will embark on this two-day visit to Japan before heading to Washington for his first summit with U.S. President Donald Trump on August 25. Presidential spokesperson Kang Yu-jung informed reporters of these upcoming diplomatic engagements.
This visit marks Lee's first trip to Japan since he assumed office in early June. It will also be his second in-person meeting with Prime Minister Ishiba, following their initial discussions on the sidelines of the Group of Seven summit in Canada earlier in June.
