Washington: President Lee Jae Myung and U.S. President Donald Trump are scheduled to hold their first summit in Washington on August 25 to address security concerns and collaboration in advanced industries, as announced by the presidential office on Tuesday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Lee will embark on a three-day visit to the United States starting August 24, marking his inaugural visit to the U.S. since assuming office in early June. Presidential spokesperson Kang Yu-jung informed reporters that the meeting aims to explore ways to evolve the South Korea-U.S. alliance into a future-oriented, comprehensive strategic partnership in response to evolving international security and economic conditions.
The leaders are also anticipated to engage in discussions on industrial cooperation in the semiconductor, battery, and shipbuilding sectors, building on the trade agreement the two nations reached earlier this month, Kang stated.
