Lee Urges DP Lawmakers to Push for Reform Agenda

Seoul: President Lee Jae Myung on Friday met with lawmakers of the ruling Democratic Party (DP) and called for their support in pushing for his reform agenda. "The role of the National Assembly is really important. I hope you will push forward the reform agendas," he told a lunch meeting with DP lawmakers at the former presidential compound of Cheong Wa Dae.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Lee expressed a sense of "grave responsibility" at what he described as an "inflection point in history" and urged DP lawmakers to share that sense of responsibility. This marks the first time Lee, who assumed office in early June, has held a meeting with all lawmakers of the DP.

The DP holds a significant majority in the National Assembly, controlling 166 of the 300 seats. Alongside minor liberal-leaning parties, the bloc commands approximately 190 seats, in contrast to the conservative opposition People Power Party's 107 seats.
