Lotte Energy Materials Seeks Copper Mark Certification for Malaysian Plant

Kuala Lumpur: Lotte Energy Materials Corp. announced plans to pursue the Copper Mark certification, a global standard for responsible copper production, for its plant in Malaysia.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Copper Mark is an assurance system overseen by the International Copper Association, focusing on social and environmental practices in copper production. Lotte Energy Materials aims to use this certification to bolster its reputation as a supplier of battery materials and to enhance relationships with international clients.

The Malaysian plant, which manufactures copper foil, utilizes hydroelectric power, aligning with the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria valued by its global customers. Lotte Energy Materials' CEO, Kim Yeon-seop, emphasized a commitment to sustainable management through responsible supply chains and green energy transitions to boost global competitiveness.
