Main Opposition Criticizes President Yoon’s Martial Law Defense as ‘Extremely Delusional’

SEOUL: The main opposition Democratic Party (DP) has strongly criticized President Yoon Suk Yeol's recent public address, in which he defended his martial law declaration, labeling it as an expression of "extreme delusion" and akin to "declaring war" on the public.According to Yonhap News Agency, DP Representative Kim Min-seok made these remarks during a press conference following President Yoon's unexpected address. In his speech, Yoon defended his controversial martial law declaration as a legitimate act of governance and denied the insurrection charges against him. He also pledged to continue fighting against any impeachment or investigation efforts.Kim further accused President Yoon of instigating a far-right revolt, suggesting that Yoon had already anticipated a potential impeachment scenario. Kim claimed that Yoon's address served as an open directive for officials involved in the martial law declaration to destroy evidence.Additionally, DP spokesperson Rep. Jo Seoung-lae called for Yoon's immedia te arrest, expressing concern over the unpredictability of Yoon's future actions. "Yoon is continuing with obvious lies in front of the public," Jo stated, emphasizing the DP's commitment to moving forward with the impeachment process with a sense of urgency.Other DP lawmakers echoed these sentiments, with calls for Yoon's immediate impeachment and arrest.
