San Francisco: South Korea's leading biopharmaceutical companies are gearing up to participate in the JP Morgan Healthcare Conference, which is scheduled to commence next week in the United States. The move is part of their strategy to enhance their footprint in the international healthcare market, as reported by industry officials.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Samsung Biologics Co., a key player in the biotech sector under Samsung Group, will be present at the event in San Francisco. This marks the ninth consecutive year of participation for the company. CEO John Rim is slated to outline the company's future business strategy during his presentation. Samsung Biologics recently completed a manufacturing facility dedicated to antibody-drug conjugates, an emerging cancer treatment modality, and is set to inaugurate its fifth biomedicine production facility in April.
Meanwhile, Celltrion Inc. plans to highlight its range of products, including antibody-drug conjugates and biosimilar medicines. The company will be represented by Chairman Seo Jung-jin and Co-CEO Seo Jin-seok. Celltrion aims to commercialize 22 biopharmaceutical products by 2030, building on its existing products like the autoimmune disease treatment Zymfentra. The company has also launched a new subsidiary, Celltrion BioSolutions, to penetrate the global CDMO market.
Lotte Biologics Co., part of the Lotte Group, will also be in attendance. The company's new CEO, James Park, is expected to unveil operational strategies for its manufacturing facilities in Songdo, near Seoul, and its ADC production site in New York.
