Man Arrested for Threatening to Kill Seoul Mayor Over Road Construction Project

Seoul: Police on Friday apprehended a man suspected of posting online messages threatening to kill Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon. The man, who is in his 20s, was apprehended at his residence in Hwaseong, south of Seoul, at around 5:55 p.m. after posting multiple messages on online forums earlier in the day.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Gyeonggi Hwaseong Dongtan Police revealed that the suspect's online messages not only contained threats against Mayor Oh but also expressed grievances regarding a road construction project in western Seoul. This project has reportedly been a source of inconvenience for many users, which might have fueled the man's threats.

Police successfully tracked the suspect by tracing his online activities. They also reportedly visited the Seoul Metropolitan Council to ensure the safety of Mayor Oh. Authorities plan to conduct a deeper investigation to understand the motives behind the suspect's threatening messages.
