Incheon: A man accused of fatally shooting his son is now facing additional charges for attempting to murder his daughter-in-law and two grandchildren, police reported Friday. The 62-year-old was arrested earlier this week after allegedly using a homemade gun to kill his son during his own birthday celebration at the son's residence in Incheon, located west of Seoul, last Sunday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, authorities suspect the man also intended to harm his daughter-in-law, two grandchildren, and a foreign private tutor who is connected to the daughter-in-law. Despite the accusations, the suspect has reportedly denied any intention to kill individuals other than his son.
A police official explained that the suspect pursued the daughter-in-law's foreign acquaintance after she left the scene, indicating a potential plan to harm the entire family. Further questioning of the suspect, scheduled for later in the day, is expected to result in the addition of these new charges.
Earlier investigations revealed the presence of multiple explosive devices at the suspect's home in northern Seoul, which were set to detonate at noon on Monday.
