Siheung: A man suspected of killing two people and seriously injuring two others over several days was placed on a nationwide wanted list, police said Monday. According to Yonhap News Agency, the man, named Cha Cheol-nam, is a Chinese national of Korean ethnicity in his 50s. He was identified after he stabbed the female owner of a convenience store in Siheung at around 9:30 a.m. Monday. The woman sustained serious injuries to her abdomen and face and is currently being treated at a hospital.
After checking the suspect’s license plate, police arrived at his home at around 11 a.m. and discovered a body that appeared to be several days old. The body has yet to be identified. Police continued their search for the suspect, as he was not at home, but at around 1:20 p.m., he stabbed a man in his 70s at a park some 2 km away from the convenience store. The stabbed man was also seriously injured and taken to a hospital.
By 2 p.m., police had discovered a second unidentified body at a home across from the convenience store. Cha was last seen wearing a black jumper, white sneakers, black gloves, and a white face mask, police said. He is of average build and has a partially bald forehead with short hair. Police noted that he may have changed clothes since the incidents.
A bounty will be offered for information leading to his capture, and the identity of any informants will be kept confidential, according to the officers.
