Navy and Marine Corps Conduct Amphibious Landing Drills in Pohang

Pohang: The Navy and the Marine Corps have initiated a significant amphibious landing exercise in the southeastern coastal city of Pohang to enhance their joint operational abilities, the armed forces stated. Some 3,200 troops are participating in the regular brigade-level drills, which commenced near Pohang, 260 kilometers southeast of Seoul, earlier this week on Tuesday and will continue for a 10-day duration.

According to Yonhap News Agency, a total of 17 warships, including the ROKS Marado amphibious landing ship, have been mobilized for this exercise. The operation also involves 19 aircraft, such as the P-3 maritime patrol aircraft and the KF-16 fighter jet, alongside 22 amphibious landing vehicles.

For the first time, this exercise will incorporate training focused on countering enemy suicide drones and utilizing drones for reconnaissance missions before landing operations.
