New Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 Set Preorder Record in South Korea

Seoul: Samsung Electronics Co. announced that preorder sales for its new Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 smartphones have reached a record high for the company's foldable Z series models in South Korea.

According to Yonhap News Agency, preorders for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 series, which were introduced on July 9, totaled 1.04 million units as of Monday. This figure surpasses the previous record of 1.02 million units set by the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 models.

The previous Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 series registered 910,000 units in preorders. Samsung noted that sales of the Galaxy Z Fold 7, designed to open and close like a book, represented 60 percent of total presales. Meanwhile, the clamshell-style Flip 7 accounted for the remaining 40 percent.

This marks the first occasion where the Fold model has outsold the Flip model since the launch of Samsung's foldable lineup in 2019. The new models boast the slimmest and lightest foldable design to date, with enhanced camera and artificial intelligence (AI) features.

The Galaxy Z series smartphones are scheduled for an official worldwide release this Friday.
