Seoul: Vice Veterans Minister Kang Yun-jin has pledged to enhance compensation policies for veterans recognized for their service as she officially assumes her new role. Kang, who previously held the position of director general for patriots and veterans associations cooperation within the veterans ministry, was elevated to vice minister in the latest personnel appointments announced by the Lee Jae Myung administration on Sunday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Kang emphasized her commitment to ensuring that veterans who have made significant sacrifices for the nation receive special compensations. In her inaugural address, she stated her intention to understand the perspectives of people of merit and offer tailored benefits, alongside honoring and remembering the contributions of veterans.
Kang also highlighted that the veterans ministry aims to play a crucial role in commemorating the 80th anniversary of the country's liberation from Japanese colonial rule, an event that will be marked this year. Meanwhile, a parliamentary confirmation hearing for Veterans Minister nominee Kwon Oh-eul is scheduled to occur on Tuesday.
