TARGETED FINANCIAL HAJJ ASSISTANCE TO CONTINUE NEXT YEAR
KUALA LUMPUR -- The Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) will continue to provide targeted financial hajj assistance to the needy for next year's hajj season.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar said that the initiative was in line with the government's aspiration to restructure subsidies in a targeted manner.
“Understanding the increasingly challenging environment, including the world's inflation, TH will continue providing hajj financial assistance to pilgrims who really need it, to fulfil the fifth pillar of Islam.
“TH also has always tried to raise public awareness, through the media, social media and engagement sessions, on the importance of the concept of capability or istito'ah,” he said, during a question and answer session at the Dewan Rakyat.
He said this in his reply to a question from Jamaludin Yahya (PN-Pasir Salak), who wanted to know whether the targeted financial assistance for the cost of hajj for the B40, M40 and T20 categories, as implemented during this year's hajj season, will continue next year.
