No Indications of North Korea’s Spy Satellite Launch Preparations, Reports Unification Ministry.

Seoul: The unification ministry stated on Thursday that there is currently no evidence of North Korea preparing to launch a spy satellite, following a failed attempt in May.According to Yonhap News Agency, North Korea had previously announced plans to launch three spy satellites this year, following a successful launch in November of the previous year. However, in late May, North Korea's attempt to launch another satellite resulted in failure when the rocket exploded shortly after takeoff."There have been no specific signs related to North Korea's satellite launch after its failure in the first half," a ministry official disclosed to reporters on the condition of anonymity. The official suggested that North Korea seems to be "short of time" to attempt additional satellite launches within this year.In a related development, the ministry noted that North Korea appears to have increased its unauthorized operations at the now-shuttered joint industrial complex in Kaesong, a border city. "North Korea appears to be running some 40 South Korean-owned facilities at the Kaesong Industrial Complex without authorization," the official remarked. The South Korean government has expressed intentions to pursue legal actions against North Korea if it expands its "illegal" operations of the complex in a comprehensive manner.
