Pyongyang: North Korea announced on Thursday that it has successfully conducted a test of two hypersonic projectiles. The projectiles were described as a new "important" weapon system by North Korean officials.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the two hypersonic projectiles were launched from the Ryokpho District in Pyongyang Municipality. They traveled northeast and hit their designated target on the tableland of Kwesang Peak in Orang County, North Hamgyong Province. The launches occurred the previous day and were part of North Korea's ongoing defense capability development program.
The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported that the purpose of the test is to enhance the sustainability and effectiveness of North Korea's strategic deterrence capabilities. This development is aimed at bolstering its defense posture against potential adversaries.
