Gyeongju: About 1,700 global business leaders, including Nvidia Corp. Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang, are set to gather in South Korea for a significant business forum held alongside the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, according to the event’s organizer.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) will host the APEC CEO Summit from October 28 to 31 in Gyeongju, situated approximately 275 kilometers southeast of Seoul. The summit will welcome participants from APEC member economies and global companies. High-profile attendees include Amazon Web Services CEO Matt Garman, Google’s Chief Marketing Officer for Asia Pacific Simon Kahn, Citi Group CEO Jane Fraser, and Johnson and Johnson CEO Joaquin Duato.
Kristalina Georgieva, managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and Mathias Cormann, secretary-general of the Organization for Economic Development and Cooperation (OECD), are also on the list of attendees.
KCCI Chairman Chey Tae-won will oversee the event, kicking off with a reception on the first day and delivering a welcoming remark on the second day. Over the four-day forum, discussions will cover a range of global issues such as economic challenges, geopolitical cooperation, digital transformation, sovereign artificial intelligence strategies, digital currencies, and future mobility.
The APEC Summit itself is scheduled for October 31 and November 1 at the same venue. U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping are expected to engage in talks amid heightened trade tensions between their nations.
