Plane Carrying 64 South Koreans Detained in Cambodia Returns Home

Incheon: A chartered flight carrying 64 South Koreans, who had been detained in Cambodia over online scam operations, returned home Saturday. The Korean Air plane arrived at Incheon International Airport at 8:35 a.m., about five hours after leaving Techo International Airport near Phnom Penh.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the South Korean nationals were reportedly placed under arrest once they boarded the plane and will be transferred to the police to be questioned about their alleged involvement in criminal activity. The operation highlights the ongoing efforts by authorities to address and dismantle online scam networks that have become increasingly prevalent.

The swift return of the South Korean citizens underscores the cooperation between Cambodia and South Korea in tackling such cross-border cybercrimes. Authorities in South Korea are expected to conduct thorough investigations to ascertain the extent of the individuals’ involvement in the scam operations and to pursue necessary legal actions.
