Seoul: Police said Monday they have arrested a suspect who ran away after allegedly shooting and killing his own family member in Incheon, west of Seoul. Police received a report Sunday that a man in his 30s was found shot at an apartment in Incheon at 9:31 p.m. The victim was moved to a hospital but was subsequently pronounced dead.
According to Yonhap News Agency, police arrested a man in his 60s in Seoul who fled the scene after allegedly firing a homemade gun at his family member. The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency said a special unit team discovered a homemade explosive device at the suspect's home and safely dismantled and removed it. The device, including flammable liquid and a timer, was found at the suspect's residence in the northern Seoul district of Dobong.
The operation came as the suspect told investigators that he had installed an explosive device at his home. Authorities promptly evacuated 105 residents from the building before conducting a thorough search.
