Police Begin On-Site Investigation into Suspected Arson at Seoul Apartment Building

Seoul: Police on Tuesday launched an on-site probe into the cause of a fire at an apartment building in Seoul, which left a 61-year-old man who is believed to be behind the suspected arson dead and six others injured, officials said.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Seoul Gwanak Police Station conducted a joint inspection with the fire service and other relevant agencies to determine the exact cause of the incident. The investigation aims to uncover the specifics behind the fire that erupted on the fourth floor of the 21-story apartment building in Bongcheon-dong early Monday.

The 61-year-old man, suspected of starting the fire, was found dead in the hallway of the same building. In pursuit of clarity regarding his death, police plan to request an autopsy to determine the cause.

Media reports indicate that the man may have started the fire intentionally, possibly due to noise complaint issues within the apartment. Authorities are currently delving deeper into the exact motives behind the incident.
