SEOUL: Police have filed for court warrants to arrest the top officials of South Korea's national and Seoul police agencies amid an ongoing investigation into their alleged involvement in a martial law probe.According to Yonhap News Agency, Cho Ji-ho, the commissioner-general of the Korean National Police Agency, and Kim Bong-sik, the head of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, have been under emergency arrest since the previous day. They are accused of instructing officers to block lawmakers from entering the National Assembly as part of efforts to overturn a martial law decree.In a related political development, the opposition-controlled National Assembly has voted to impeach both Cho and Justice Minister Park Sung-jae. The impeachment motions passed during a plenary session, and the officials will be suspended immediately following the delivery of official documents notifying them of the decision.In an update on Cho's condition, police have confirmed that he is receiving treatment at the police hos pital in Seoul for unspecified health issues. A police official declined to provide further information about Cho's symptoms or diagnosis.
