PPP Criticizes DP’s ‘Unipolar’ System, Calls for Swift Court Decision on Lee Jae-myung

Seoul: The conservative People Power Party (PPP) has voiced strong criticism against the liberal Democratic Party (DP), labeling it as a "one-man system" following the selection of Lee Jae-myung as the party's presidential candidate. The PPP is urging a swift court ruling regarding Lee before the upcoming June election.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Lee Jae-myung, who recently secured the DP's presidential nomination, is currently leading in opinion polls for the presidential race. This election comes in the wake of the removal of former President Yoon Suk Yeol, affiliated with the PPP, following his controversial imposition of martial law in December.

PPP spokesperson Shin Dong-wook expressed concerns, stating, "There is no courage or system left within the DP to put the brakes on the 'Lee Jae-myung party.' All that remains now are countless risks." The PPP has accused the DP of acting with arrogance, as though it has already clinched power.

The PPP has called on the Supreme Court to expedite its verdict on Lee, emphasizing the importance of informing the public to ensure an informed decision in the June 3 presidential election. The Supreme Court has indeed accelerated its examination of alleged election law violations involving Lee, having referred his case to the full bench last week, and is currently conducting deliberation sessions.

The legal proceedings represent a significant obstacle for Lee Jae-myung, with the outcome potentially impacting his candidacy and the overall election dynamics.
