Warsaw: Presidential chief of staff Kang Hoon-sik met with Poland's deputy prime minister and defense minister, Wladyslaw Marcin Kosiniak-Kamysz, to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation in defense, as announced by the presidential office on Tuesday. Kang's visit to Europe aims to strengthen defense industry partnerships and expand South Korea's arms exports.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Kang shared on X that the discussions held on Monday focused on defense and economic cooperation. His visit follows his recent appointment as a special envoy by President Lee Jae Myung, with the mission of bolstering defense industry collaboration and expanding South Korea's arms export market.
During the meeting, Kang conveyed President Lee's strong emphasis on relations with Poland, expressing a desire to elevate the strategic partnership. Kosiniak-Kamysz also shared on X that the meeting covered defense cooperation, technology transfer, and equipment supply for the Polish military.
Kang's European tour, which began on Sunday, involves delivering President Lee's letters to several European countries with which Seoul seeks to deepen defense cooperation.
