Seoul: The presidential office stated it is closely monitoring developments related to North Korea’s military parade marking the 80th anniversary of the founding of its ruling party. “It is fundamentally an internal event of North Korea,” an official from the presidential office mentioned. “We are keeping a close watch on related movements.”
According to Yonhap News Agency, North Korea held the parade at Kim Il Sung Square in Pyongyang to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Workers’ Party of Korea. The event was attended by leader Kim Jong-un, Chinese Premier Li Qiang, Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, and Vietnam’s leader To Lam, among others.
During the parade, Pyongyang showcased its new Hwasong-20 intercontinental ballistic missile for the first time. The parade also featured hypersonic missiles and other weapons systems, highlighting North Korea’s missile capabilities.
