Prime Minister and PPP Leadership Gather at Presidential Office Amid Impeachment Motion.

Seoul: Prime Minister Han Duck-soo and leaders of the ruling People Power Party (PPP) assembled at the presidential office on Wednesday, potentially for a meeting with President Yoon Suk Yeol. This gathering follows an impeachment bill submitted by opposition parties, as reported by sources.According to Yonhap News Agency, Han, PPP leader Han Dong-hoon, and PPP floor leader Choo Kyung-ho made their way to the presidential office after an earlier meeting with Chung Jin-suk, the presidential chief of staff, at the prime minister's official residence. The discussions focused on follow-up measures regarding the brief martial law declaration. This development unfolds just hours after opposition parties presented a motion to impeach President Yoon, following the blocking of his martial law declaration by lawmakers earlier in the day. The main opposition Democratic Party, along with five other minor parties, intends to report the motion to a parliamentary plenary session on Thursday, with plans to put it to a vot e on Friday or Saturday. The impeachment motion, to pass through parliament, requires a two-thirds majority. Out of the 300-member National Assembly, the opposition will need to secure eight votes from PPP lawmakers to successfully pass the bill.
