Tampa: Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Kim Ha-seong has missed his second consecutive game due to lower back tightness but is expected to return for the opening of the next series. Kim observed the Rays' 11-9 defeat to the Chicago White Sox at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim left the game against the White Sox on Monday after experiencing back tightness following a steal of second base. Although he felt improved the next day, he did not participate in the game. Prior to Wednesday's game, Rays manager Kevin Cash mentioned that Kim was potentially available as a reserve but opted against playing him.
The Rays have a scheduled day off on Thursday before commencing a seven-game road trip starting Friday in Cincinnati. Kim is anticipated to rejoin the lineup at that time. This season, he has participated in only 10 games, having debuted on July 4 after recovering from last fall's shoulder surgery, followed by a brief absence due to calf issues. Kim is currently batting .226/.314/.355 with one home run, three RBIs, and four stolen bases this season.
In other major league news, Kim Hye-seong of the Los Angeles Dodgers recorded 0-for-2 with two strikeouts before being replaced by pinch hitter Miguel Rojas in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Dodgers secured a 4-3 victory over the Minnesota Twins at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. Kim Hye-seong holds a batting average of .313 across 54 games, yet is facing difficulties in July with a .191 average.
Meanwhile, Lee Jung-hoo of the San Francisco Giants did not participate in his team's 9-3 triumph over the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park in Atlanta. Lee currently maintains a batting average of .246 for the season, with a .276 average this month.
