Seoul: The resignation process for Lee Chang-soo, chief of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors Office, and Cho Sang-won, the deputy chief prosecutor at the same office, has been finalized, as reported by government officials. They initially submitted their resignations on May 20 amid accusations of mishandling an investigation involving former first lady Kim Keon Hee and her alleged role in a stock price manipulation scheme.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the Ministry of Justice accepted the resignations on Tuesday, with former acting President Lee Ju-ho giving his approval later that day. These developments follow the impeachment of the senior prosecutors by the National Assembly in December after the failed martial law attempt by impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol on December 3. However, the Constitutional Court overturned the impeachments in its ruling on March 13.
