Seoul: The ruling Democratic Party (DP) and the main opposition People Power Party (PPP) have come to an agreement to hold a parliamentary plenary session this week. This decision was made public after a meeting organized by National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-shik, which included the participation of Kim Byung-kee, the acting leader and floor leader of the DP, as well as the PPP floor leader Song Eon-seog.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the forthcoming session will include the adoption of a resolution to honor the late former U.S. Congressman Charles Rangel. Rangel passed away on May 26 and was recognized for his contributions during the Korean War and his longstanding efforts to bolster the alliance between South Korea and the United States.
The meeting also witnessed Speaker Woo urging both parties to work together to address the vacancies in five standing committee chair positions, one of which is the Legislation and Judiciary Committee.
