Russia’s Security Chief Sergei Shoigu Visits Pyongyang for Talks with Kim Jong-un

Pyongyang: Russia's Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu has arrived in Pyongyang to hold discussions with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, as reported by a Russian news agency.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Shoigu's visit is in line with instructions from President Vladimir Putin. He is expected to engage in a meeting with Kim Jong-un, as reported by the Russian news agency Tass. The visit is taking place amidst growing speculation that Kim might travel to Russia for a summit with Putin. This potential summit could coincide with the first anniversary of their mutual defense treaty signed last June. The treaty notably resulted in North Korea deploying thousands of troops alongside Russia in the ongoing conflict with Ukraine.
