Harbin: South Korea advanced to the semifinals of the men's hockey tournament at the Asian Winter Games in China with a win over Kyrgyzstan.
According to Yonhap News Agency, three players scored a hat trick as South Korea defeated Kyrgyzstan 20-0 in the quarterfinals at Harbin Sport University Student Skating Rink in Harbin. South Korea scored six goals in the first period, with Kim Sang-yeob contributing two goals. In the second period, South Korea scored 11 goals, with Lee Chong-min achieving a natural hat trick in a span of 5:01.
South Korea added three more goals in the third period to complete the game. Kim Sang-yeob and Kang Min-wan each scored three goals, while Kim Si-hwan led the team with five assists. South Korea outshot Kyrgyzstan 55-11.
The semifinals will take place on Thursday, with the bronze and gold medal games scheduled for Friday, the final day of the Winter Asiad. South Korea is pursuing its first gold medal in Asiad men's hockey.
