Seoul: South Korea and China will hold talks to discuss the two countries' export control measures this week as part of efforts to stabilize supply chains for key industries, the industry ministry said Thursday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the two-day dialogue, the second of its kind, will run through Friday in Seoul to exchange information on current export control measures by the two countries and discuss ways to stabilize supplies of critical minerals and rare earths, widely used in advanced industries, such as automotive, electronics, and semiconductors, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
The communication channel was established in July last year to promote stabilization of supply chains between Seoul and Beijing. "The ministry has been closely communicating with China to ensure stable operation of industrial supply chains, including rare earths and critical minerals," a ministry official said, noting that the country plans to continue efforts to bolster cooperation with its major trading partners to create a "stable" trade environment for Korean companies.
