Seoul: South Korea and Kazakhstan engaged in discussions to bolster economic cooperation across several sectors, including manufacturing, plant construction, and critical mineral supply chains. This dialogue comes amid increasing uncertainties in global trade, as reported by Seoul’s industry ministry.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Industry Minister Kim Jung-kwan met with a Kazakh delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Bozumbayev Kanat. The meeting focused on expanding bilateral cooperation in the manufacturing sector and addressing challenges faced by Korean firms in Kazakhstan, such as inadequate logistics infrastructure for Kia Corp. and the distribution of counterfeit Korean home appliances.
Minister Kim also emphasized the need for increased participation of Korean companies in Kazakhstan’s plant construction projects and underscored the importance of collaboration in the supply chains of critical minerals. He highlighted South Korea’s ability to provide advanced technologies and expertise in artifi
cial intelligence and future mobility, which could support Kazakhstan’s ambition to transform Alatau into an international hub connecting Asia and Europe.
The Kazakh delegation’s visit to Seoul was part of hosting the “Alatau Rise International Roadshow,” which aimed to promote its urban development project.
