Seoul: South Korea and Saudi Arabia have reached an agreement to broaden their bilateral cooperation across advanced sectors, including shipbuilding, automotive, and artificial intelligence (AI), as announced by Seoul's industry ministry. The commitment was made to support joint projects between the two nations.
According to Yonhap News Agency, during the Korea-Saudi Vision 2030 Committee meeting in Seoul, both countries developed 11 new cooperation projects and reviewed the progress of 46 ongoing projects. The new initiatives focus on developing carbon reduction technologies for shipbuilding, as well as advancements in automobile engine and hybrid car technologies.
The collaboration also extends to digital transformation and AI innovation, with plans to cooperate in the entertainment sector, covering film, e-sports, and tourism industries. The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy emphasized these areas as part of the growing relationship.
South Korea plans to maintain a regular communication channel with Saudi Arabia to ensure the effective implementation of these projects. Industry Minister Kim Jung-kwan highlighted the aim to expand cooperation in key industries with growth potential, such as AI and soft power.
