Seoul: South Korea took part in a regional military conference this week to discuss security challenges and ways to strengthen cooperation in the Indo-Pacific, the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said Thursday. Vice Adm. Kang Dong-gil, chief of the JCS' Directorate of Military Support, attended the Indo-Pacific Chiefs of Defense conference held in Thailand from Tuesday through Thursday, according to the JCS.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Kang joined the annual security talks, attended by high-level military officials from 28 nations, on behalf of JCS Chairman Adm. Kim Myung-soo. On the sidelines of the event, Kang held bilateral talks with senior officials from the United States, Japan, and New Zealand to discuss ways to expand cooperation through personnel exchange and training, the JCS said.
