Seoul: The South Korean government has announced a US$1 million humanitarian aid package to support Los Angeles County, California, in the wake of devastating wildfires. These funds will be distributed through relief organizations, as confirmed by the foreign ministry on Thursday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the wildfires that erupted on January 7 have wreaked havoc throughout the Los Angeles area. The fires have destroyed over 12,000 structures and claimed at least 28 lives, causing widespread distress and displacement among local communities.
South Korea's foreign ministry emphasized the importance of this assistance in mitigating the hardships faced by residents in the affected regions. The ministry expressed hope that the aid would contribute to the swift recovery and normalization of life for those impacted by the disaster.
